Hello World. Fires, floods, and the N word. With the devastation that we have all witnessed recently, I cannot help but think about the contrasts within the way things were handled and are still being handled.
Thank you to all of our emergency personnel and and their support teams. You guys are the best, and we mere mortal citizens will never be able tho thank you enough. When a person has an emergency, their heart is racing, they're scared out of their minds, someone could be dying right in front of them. The sounds, smells, and sights of emergency . . . the best sight in the world, is that emergency person coming to the rescue. Through he smoke , the rain, the twisted metal and mire, here they come. Anyone that has lived through a real emergency knows what I am talking about.
I do not care what color, or persuasion you are just the fact that you came to help is enough. But . . .
In our everyday lives, all those rules are thrown right out of the window. If a person says the slightest thing even halfway stupid or controversial we are willing to hang them from their ba--s.
Either we can say anything, or we need to shut up about everything. This thing that some people can say some things, and some people cannot, is ridiculous ( just my opinion ). If the fires are burning, or the floods are rising, that person coming can be the biggest bigot on the planet, as long as he is coming for our asses then that is OK. If that same person is sitting at a restaurant with friends, or is at work and says something stupid or rude or bigoted, ugh oh . . . he's gotta go !!! And boy do I mean go, he's gonna be hunted down, job lost, and possibly have to hire a lawyer to defend himself . . . if he can afford one.
I declare we lighten up. Damn . . . we are tip toeing around like political correct zombies. We had better learn to love our fellow man and woman. I know it is not the easiest thing to do, but walking around hating is not the way either. Maybe it has more to do with loving ourselves first.
