Hello World. Wow . . . 2009 is coming at a fast and fierce pace.

Job losses. Home foreclosures. Bank failures. Investment firm failures. Political fallout. Alleged "ponzi scheme" scandals. Crime . . . blue, and white collar . . . off the charts. And on . . . and on . . . and on.

With all of that going on . . . we still have our personal lives, family lives, and professional lives. Hmmm. When times are tight . . . taking a good look around seems normal.

Personal assessments . . . personal inventory . . . a recession/depression assessment becomes . . . mandatory.

Those that have "latched on" . . . become obvious.

Initially . . . they may have been a casual friend, or professional liaison . . . or intimate other. However, in the clarity of a good personal assessment . . . there agenda becomes very clear.

Are you aware of someone who "latches on . . . ?" How have you handled someone who has latched on . . . ? Are you a blunt reactor . . . ? Are you a people pleaser and . . . don't want to hurt any ones feelings . . . ? The latch(er) . . . has had an agenda all along. ARE YOU A RECOVERING . . . PARENT?

Hello World. As we are in an epic paradigm shift . . . are you doing a bit of self assessing?

I am.

Having gone through the blessed, precious, wonderful, and oh so lovely experience of parenting . . . I am realizing since the adulthood and maturation of my child . . . I am still recovering.

Are you a recovering . . . parent?

This is a special club we belong to. Not a pity party . . . no indeed just the opposite. It takes time to recover . . . years. I'd say about seven years per kid. That sounds about right.

There are steps to recovery . . . one must purge these experiences from the parental primary thinking capacity.

1. Admit parental overwhelm. I was totally overwhelmed.
2. Denial of overwhelm. Who me, no I had it all together.
3. Admit . . . kid not perfect.
4. The teacher might have been right . . . after all.
5. Confronting cell . . . hell.
6. Getting through . . . "he's cute, she's hot."
7. "Pull your damn pants up." Or . . . "put some damn clothes on!!!"
8. The vaporized kid entitlement. "I want it, gotta have it."
9. Good gracious . . . it's graduation!!!
10. Get out . . . !!!

Recovering from parenting will take time.

Taking time for yourself, is a new and foreign concept . . . be patient.
